It is with deep sadness that I join members of the Perryopolis community in mourning the loss of Officer Richard Champion, who was killed Sunday in a two-vehicle crash on Route 51 while pursuing a suspect.
Our hearts go out to the family, friends and colleagues of this dedicated police officer who died protecting our citizens. Officer Champion not only served this community but our country – serving as a member of the Army Reserves in Iraq. He leaves behind his wife Dawn and his son Tanner. This is a terrible loss of a fine individual and one that we feel deeply. Please keep the Champion family in your thoughts and prayers.
