Fayette County EMA Gathers Partners in Opening Resource Center for Disaster Survivors

“One-Stop Shop” Offering Relief and Recovery Resources Opens Friday September 2, 2016 in Connellsville.

Fayette County Emergency Management Agency is gathering other local disaster assistance organizations to open a “one-stop shop” for survivors of the August 28th flood that affected Connellsville City, Connellsville Township and Bullskin Township.

Friday September 2 and Saturday September 3, the Multi-Agency Resource Center (MARC) will open from 10:00AM to 6:00PM at the Connellsville Middle School (Previously known as the Junior High) 710 Locust St Ext Connellsville.

Bus transportation to the MARC for Connellsville residents will be provided from Woodruff Park in Connellsville starting at 10:00AM with trips every 2 hours.

Bus transportation to the MARC for Bullskin residents will be provided from Breakneck Market (previously Gilmore Store) starting at 11:00AM with trips every 2 hours.

Trained caseworkers will be available at the MARC to help people create personal recovery plans, navigate paperwork, and locate assistance for their specified disaster-caused needs.

Representatives from several government, nonprofit, and religiously-affiliated disaster relief organizations will be on hand at the MARC to assist disaster survivors.

“Fayette County EMA is proud to gather our partners in the area to help survivors of the recent flood navigate the road to recovery” said Roy Shipley Jr, Director of the Fayette County Emergency Management Agency. “Already this community has pulled together to help their neighbors affected by the August 28th flood and Fayette County Emergency Management Agency will continue to be here to help people in the weeks and months to come”

There will also be agencies that can help those who need long-term recovery assistance such as rebuilding and repair of homes. Individuals and families can meet with agencies for referrals and long term recovery services if your family is not available for government assistance or if that assistance is inadequate to meet your needs. Individuals and families applying for assistance are required to bring identification showing address and proof of residence to be eligible for assistance from some agencies.
