$1 Million State Grant Awarded to Renovate, Expand Twin Lakes Center in Somerset

Twin Lakes Center Inc. Drug and Alcohol Rehab Facility in Somerset PA has been awarded a $1 million state grant to expand its facility and serve more patients in need, according to Senator Pat Stefano (R-32).

Stefano said the grant is funded through the state Redevelopment Assistance Capital Program (RACP), which provides funds for community and economic development projects throughout the state.

“This project will help to provide care to patients and families who are struggling with addiction,” Stefano said.  “One of the issues we are discovering in our attempt to address the growing heroin and opioid crisis is that there are not enough beds and treatment centers available. This grant will provide for support of a total renovation of the inpatient and outpatient units and new construction to accommodate more patients.”

Stefano reflected on a recent opportunity to tour the treatment center, “Having toured their current facility, I saw firsthand their needs for an update to their facilities. While on that tour I also spoke with individuals who were being treated for addiction. Hearing their stories and testimonies from those whose lives have been positively affected by the treatment center I am confident that this new capacity at Twin Lakes Center will save lives and make a positive difference in our community.”

Stefano concluded, “Somerset Hospital is to be congratulated for their commitment to addressing the addiction crisis facing all of our communities. I’d also like to thank Aspire Grant Development for their hard work on this worthy project.”
