Downtown Monessen to Receive $50,000 Keystone Communities Grant, Stefano Says

For Immediate Release

August 2, 2021

WESTMORELAND – To more effectively attract residents and employers to Monessen, the Keystone Communities Program awarded Monessen a $50,000 grant for the Downtown Monessen Façade Program, according to Senator Pat Stefano (R-32).

“The best way to battle blight in our communities is helping building owners and businesses improve their properties. This Keystone Communities grant will be helpful in funding these improvements. Improvements in our downtown can be the spark that creates change in the entire neighborhood,” Senator Stefano said.

The Keystone Communities Program is designed to encourage the creation of partnerships between the public and private sectors that jointly support local initiatives such as the growth and stability of neighborhoods and communities; social and economic diversity; and a strong and secure quality of life. The program allows communities to tailor the assistance to meet the needs of their specific revitalization efforts.
