Senate Committee Passes Stefano Bill to Lower License Plate Fee for Veterans

HARRISBURG – Legislation drafted by Sen. Pat Stefano (R-32), who serves as chairman of the Senate Veterans Affairs and Preparedness Committee, that would reduce the license plate fee for veterans was passed unanimously by the Senate Transportation Committee.

Senate Bill 504 would provide a reduction in fees for military veterans acquiring license plate registration. Currently, the fee is $37 but would be reduced to $11 with the bill’s enactment.

“After dedicating years of service in defense of our great nation and Commonwealth, it is the least we can do to offer this perk in return,” Sen. Stefano said. “I hope this bill to enhance the benefits our military veterans receive in thanks for their service sees a swift Senate vote.”

The bill now moves to the full Senate for consideration.
