ADDISON – Sen. Pat Stefano (R-Fayette/Somerset/Westmoreland) and Rep. Matthew Dowling (R-Fayette/Somerset), in coordination with Addison Borough and Joel Landis of the Somerset County Department of Emergency Services, issued the following update regarding the water emergency in Addison Borough, Somerset County.
Following a system distribution failure due to multiple leaks in the reservoir at the Addison Area Water Authority, a municipal disaster declaration was signed today.
“The water authority is doing everything possible to rectify this situation as soon as possible. This issue may take several days to fix, and we kindly ask residents for their patience as we work through these issues,” Kevin Nogroski of the Addison Area Water Authority said.
Yesterday, the water authority issued a water conservation notice for all customers that remains in effect. A boil water advisory will also be in place until further notice.
Distribution of bottled drinking water began taking place from the Addison Volunteer Fire Department this afternoon. Portable toilets will also be available at the fire department throughout this issue.
Water buffalos from the Somerset County Department of Emergency Services containing non-potable water are located at the following locations:

Residents are urged to use bottled water for drinking and cooking. The non-potable water available at the buffalos is not of drinking quality but may still be used for many other purposes.
Addison Borough is looking for donations of pallets of bottled water to be distributed to area residents, as this issue will be ongoing. Any organization wishing to donate should contact Rep. Dowling’s office at 814-634-4390 to coordinate.
“In 2018, we assisted Addison Borough with a water issue of the same caliber,” Dowling said. “I am once again proud of the work of local and state government agencies and others in the community in responding to this emergency.”
Since the emergency declaration, National Pike Water Authority generously donated 50,000 gallons of water to fill half of Addison’s revoir in coordination with PA Warn and Dean’s Water Service in Washington, PA. Bottled water for area residents has been donated by Sam’s Club of Morgantown in coordination with Jesse Bates Recycling.
