This week, April 6-12, is β€œWeek of the Young Child” in Pennsylvania. 🧸

As we celebrate the lively energy of every young child this week, we highlight the importance of early childhood care and education and commit ourselves to supporting the parents, caregivers, and educators who work tirelessly so that every child in Pennsylvania can grow into their full potential.

This week, April 6-12, is β€œWeek of the Young Child” in Pennsylvania. 🧸

During the #PASenate #PABudget hearing with Department of State Sec. Schmidt, I asked when multistate #licensing compacts will be fully implemented, and the timeline and cost to make improvements to the PA Licensure System.

Iliana Hunsberger, a PennWest California student and Hollsopple resident, presented her research on identifying genetic differences for use in genetic testing for hypertrophic cardiomyopathy in the capitol. 

She and other undergraduate students displayed posters of their studies to showcase the importance of undergraduate research. Great work, Iliana!

On Tuesday, art advocates from across the commonwealth met with legislators to request continued investments in arts and culture to boost local economies, tourism, and downtown revitalization. 

Support for the arts provides an opportunity for economic growth, as the arts touch multiple industries across the commonwealth. An investment in local art is an investment in our local businesses, so funding creative endeavors propels our economy to thrive.

Representing Bedford, Fayette, Somerset and some of Westmoreland Counties, Senator Pat Stefano has acquired decades of hands-on budget management and community engagement experience as a third-generation business owner. In addition to chairing the Senate Consumer Protection and Professional Licensure Committee, he is passionate about streamlining government practices, cultivating economic growth, and fostering educational excellence for all students, starting with early development.
