π£ The Early Childhood Education Caucus rallied with child care and pre-K students, teachers and parents as well as other advocates to underscore the worsening impacts of the PAβs early learning teacher shortage and further call for support to early childhood care and education.
The Learning Lamp`s Dr. Leah Spangler and speakers from multiple industries detailed how low teacher compensation fuels the shortage which leads to a growing number of child care and pre-K classroom closures, thus driving up waitlists and creating a burden on working families.
Thank you to my co-chairs Senator Judy Schwank, Rep. Pat Harkin, PA State Rep. Shelby Labs and our partnering organizations, Start Strong PA, Pre-K for PA and the Pennsylvania Early Learning Investment Commission, for coming together to highlight the critical need to support the workforce behind our workforce: child care.

It was great to see our local farmers in Harrisburg this week for the Pennsylvania Farm Bureau Legislative Luncheon. I was grateful to spend time with members of the Fayette County Farm Bureau and Somerset County Farm Bureau and discuss legislative issues affecting our agricultural community.

Iliana Hunsberger, a PennWest California student and Hollsopple resident, presented her research on identifying genetic differences for use in genetic testing for hypertrophic cardiomyopathy in the capitol.

This week, we celebrated the @connellsville_athletics clay target sporting clays team for winning another national championship in the fall. @rep_warner and I were so proud to host these young athletes and share the story of their great success with our colleagues. Congratulations again, Falcons!

On Tuesday, art advocates from across the commonwealth met with legislators to request continued investments in arts and culture to boost local economies, tourism, and downtown revitalization.
Support for the arts provides an opportunity for economic growth, as the arts touch multiple industries across the commonwealth. An investment in local art is an investment in our local businesses, so funding creative endeavors propels our economy to thrive.
