It was great to have Gracyn Bittner, a junior at Conemaugh Township Area High School, join us in Philadelphia as the #PASenate commemorated Americaâs 250th birthday last week.
As an Eagle Scout and dedicated student leader, Gracyn plans to pursue service to our country through enrollment at the U.S. Naval Academy after graduation. It was inspiring to see him, and other young leaders, so engaged in honoring our nationâs history. The future looks bright!
It was a pleasure to welcome the District 5 PIAA 2A back-to-back state championship girlsâ basketball team from Berlin Brothersvalley High School to the capitol this week. PA State Rep. Carl Walker Metzgar and I congratulated the team for another outstanding season. Somerset County is proud!
Pennsylvania is facing a housing crisis and this week, the #PASenate Consumer Protection and Professional Licensure Committee approved two bills designed to strengthen protections for Pennsylvania homeowners and homebuyers. đ
SB 907 would establish statewide licensing and oversight for home inspectors, while SB 1324 would strengthen consumer protections against fraud and poor-quality work by home improvement contractors.
Pennsylvanians deserve qualified professionals and strong consumer safeguards when it comes to making one of the biggest financial investments of their lives. Both bills now move to the full Senate for consideration.
Grateful for the opportunity to visit Bedford Area Ambulance Service. It was insightful to see their operations up close and hear directly about the challenges facing EMS providers. Thank you to our dedicated first responders for all that you do!

đ Proud to stand with Pennsylvania Downtown Center for their Main Street Matters Advocacy Day in Harrisburg this week.
Itâs no secret that Main Street is the heartbeat of our communities and investments like t Downtown Center are what breathes life into our downtowns, our small businesses and the people who call these communities home. Our downtown areas have and remain to be the best foot that we want to put forward, so we must continue to invest in them, because Main Street will always matter.

đ Affordable, attainable housing is essential for the future of our workforce and economy.
I was proud to welcome the Senate Majority Policy Committee to @fayettecopa for an important discussion on Pennsylvaniaâs housing crisis.
We heard testimony about the challenges that potential residents and communities face when housing isnât available. When working families canât relocate for the jobs we`ve created here, businesses struggle to grow and overall, our economy suffers. Thatâs why weâre exploring practical solutions to cut red tape, support responsible development and create opportunities for families to live where they work.
A big thank you to everyone who shared their insight and expertise with us. đď¸
