State Grant Program Now Open for Volunteer Fire Companies & Ambulance Services

(HARRISBURG) – Volunteer fire companies and ambulance services throughout the 32nd Senatorial District can now submit an application for the State’s Volunteer Fire Company, Volunteer Ambulance Service Grant Program, according to Senator Pat Stefano (R-32).

The grants may be used for construction or renovation of a unit’s station, the purchase or repair of equipment, training or debt reduction. The maximum grant amount is $15,000 for volunteer fire companies and $10,000 for volunteer ambulance services. A total of $25 million will be awarded through the program. Grant applications for the 2015-16 fiscal year must be submitted through an online application.

“This is an important source of funding for our volunteer fire and EMS services, who do so much to protect our communities and often on a very limited budget, so I encourage organizations in my district to apply,” Stefano said.

Last year, area fire and ambulance organizations received more than $300,000 in funding from the program, which was created by the General Assembly as Act 10 of 2007. The program is funded through state gaming proceeds.

Applications will be accepted now through October 22, 2015.  To create a user account and submit an application please visit: https://www.osfcegrants.state.pa.us/.
