Stefano Announces State Grant to Masontown Borough for Water Project

(HARRISBURG) – Masontown Borough, Fayette County has been awarded a $393,688 state grant to for a water project that will help to improve distribution and protect water quality, according to Senator Pat Stefano (R-32)

Stefano said the grant was awarded by the Commonwealth Financing Authority (CFA) under its PA Small Water and Sewer Grant Program.

He said the borough will use the grant to replace 6,650 linear feet of water mains.  Currently, there are numerous compromised and leaking water mains along five streets within the borough’s distribution system.  The project will improve efficiency for the distribution system and protect the system’s customers from pollution.

“I’m pleased that Masontown has been awarded this funding to make major improvements to its water system that are long-overdue and costly,” Stefano said.  “Without this funding, the cost could have been borne by local taxpayers or the project may not have been completed on a timely basis.  This funding is an important resource for small communities. I offer my congratulations to the local officials involved in helping to bring this important funding to Fayette County.”
