*HB 1178 (Knowles) Title 35/Health & Safety:  Implementation of Fire & EMS Programming from Fireworks Tax Revenues

A05733 (Stefano) Makes a number of changes, including requiring annual reports for each of the programs – providing for administrative funding – limiting the proposed “Capital and Operating” Grants to just “Capital” Grants as called for in HB 2157 – permitting merged departments to receive a larger grant for 20 years (the current bill makes it permanent) – increasing the cap on Fire & EMS Grants to $20,000 (currently $15,000) – inserting provisions of SB 83 (Higher/Secondary Education Pilots) – inserting the provisions of SB 1265 (Fire Course Registry) – inserting the provisions of HB 397 (permits Resolutions – in addition to ordinances – to provide local tax credits for volunteer first responders) – distributing funding for the Bomb Squad funding in HB 2157 – and delaying the Fire Relief Funding Formula Study until December 31, 2023.
