Stefano’s District Offices Available to Assist with Property Tax/Rent Rebate Applications

HARRISBURG – The application period for Pennsylvania’s Property Tax/Rent Rebate Program is now open. Sen. Pat Stefano (R-32) reminds constituents that the program now has expanded eligibility requirements and that his district offices are available to help process the applications.

“This is the first time the program has been expanded since 2006. With this, more Pennsylvanians will now receive the rebate to alleviate the burden of excessive property taxes and put money back into their pockets,” Stefano said. “My office is happy to assist anyone with questions about the program and those looking to apply.”

The program’s new income limit is $45,000 a year for both homeowners and renters. Applicants should keep in mind that only half of their Social Security income is included in calculations. The maximum rebate amount has been raised from $650 to $1,000.

Constituents looking to have their applications completed can call to make an appointment at the following district office locations:

  • Connellsville: 171 W. Crawford Ave., Suite 2 (724-626-1611)
  • Somerset: 118 W. Main St., Suite 204 (814-443-2053)
  • Bedford: 129 E. Penn St. (814-623-5004)

Applicants are required to provide the following information to apply:

  • Proof of all Social Security/Railroad Retirement, SSI, or disability payments for 2023
  • Proof of any other income including W-2 and pension, interest and/or dividend statements (1099) for 2023
  • A driver’s license or photo ID
  • Property owners: Proof of 2023 taxes paid, either stamped or signed by the tax collector
  • Renters: Renters Certificate completed by the landlord
  • For direct deposit: A voided check or bank information including the routing and account number

Application booklets are expected to be available in the office around mid-February.

The Pennsylvania Property Tax/Rent Rebate program is open to Pennsylvania residents 65 or older, widows and widowers 50 or older, or anyone age 18 and over who is 100% disabled.

Applications are due by June 30. The Department of Revenue evaluates the program before the deadline every year. If extra funds are available, the deadline may be extended.
