On Monday, May 5, the Early Childhood Education Caucus and the Legislative Latino Caucus held a press conference to call attention to how the growing teacher shortage, driven by low compensation, is closing child care centers throughout Pennsylvania, and driving up waitlists for working families. Together, speakers expressed the urgent need for investment in recruitment and retention initiatives that will help begin to remedy the child care teacher shortage and ensure that early learning providers can meet the demand from all working families.
