Stefano, Topper Announce $8.6 Million in State Assistance for Bedford County Improvement Projects

HARRISBURG – Sen. Pat Stefano (R-32) and Rep. Jesse Topper (R-78) announced the following projects in Bedford County were awarded more than $8.6 million in state assistance from the Pennsylvania Infrastructure Investment Authority (PENNVEST) board today.

Woodbury Water Authority was awarded $984,768 in state funding for its Mill Street waterline replacement project where they will be installing approximately 2,850 feet of six-inch, four-inch and two-inch diameter waterline along Mill Street in Woodbury Borough and Woodbury Township.

Saxton Borough Municipal Authority was awarded $632,000 in state funding for its power plant road lift station improvement project where they will be constructing a new wastewater pump station and reconfiguring the current station’s influent plumbing to convey flows to the new station.

Schellsburg Municipal Authority was awarded $1.7 million in state funding for its pump station replacement project where they will replace the current outdated sewage pump station with a new one as well as install approximately 1,500 feet of replacement force main, a backup generator and valve vault. 

Bedford Borough Municipal Authority was awarded $5.26 million in state funding for its South Side storm sewer improvement project where they will install approximately 6,275 feet of 15-inch to 60-inch stormwater pipe along with 49 inlets, several manholes, an end wall and all other necessary equipment.

“Projects such as these are necessary to improve the critical services our municipalities provide and the quality of life for our residents,” Stefano said. “This dedicated assistance will greatly benefit these Bedford County communities.”

“This funding will help our local municipalities take on vital improvement projects that will benefit residents,” Topper said. “I thank the PENNVEST board for recognizing the importance of each project and the benefit they bring to help drive up our economy.”

PENNVEST is a financing authority that provides low-cost financial assistance to address water, wastewater, stormwater, and non-point source pollution problems that impact public health, safety, the environment, regulatory compliance, and economic development.
