
HARRISBURG – Sen. Pat Stefano (R-32) and House Minority Leader Rep. Jesse Topper (R-78) announced today that 17 Bedford County projects will receive more than $4.6 million in Statewide Local Share Account (LSA) and Greenways, Trails and Recreation Program (GTRP) funding administered by the Commonwealth Financing Authority.
“I’m proud to see these state investments directed to projects that will make a real difference for Bedford County communities,” Stefano said. “By investing in infrastructure and emergency services, these projects will ultimately support long-term economic growth and improve the overall quality of life for residents across the county. I’m thankful to work alongside Rep. Topper to secure this funding.”
The funding will support critical water and sewer upgrades, emergency services, road equipment and recreational projects across multiple Bedford County municipalities.
“These investments to a wide range of projects, from strengthening infrastructure and enhancing public safety to expanding recreational opportunities, will make a real difference to residents of Bedford County,” Topper said. “I’m grateful to have played a role in delivering these funds to our communities.”
The following projects were awarded LSA funding:
Bedford Borough Municipal Authority will receive $334,000 to cover construction, engineering and administrative costs to replace the Barclay Drive Waterline and $219,000 to purchase a new wheel loader for the borough.
Bedford Fulton Joint Recreation Authority will receive $30,622 to purchase a new tractor for their trial maintenance equipment located in East Providence Township in Bedford County.
Bedford Township Municipal Authority will receive $90,000 to purchase a sewer camera to assist with performing investigative work and complete normal maintenance.
Cumberland Valley Township will receive $114,730 to purchase a plow/dump truck.
East Providence Township on behalf of the Breezewood Volunteer Fire Company will receive $260,790 to purchase 27 new self-contained breathing apparatuses and associated equipment as well cover administrative costs.
East Providence Township Municipal Authority will receive $141,000 to cover construction, engineering and administrative costs to replace an emergency generator in Breezewood.
Everett Borough Area Municipal Authority will receive $557,750 to cover construction and engineering costs to replace the Transite waterline and water service.
Hopewell Borough will receive $284,542 to cover construction, engineering and administrative costs to build a fire access boat ramp in the borough and $111,496 to purchase a utility truck.
Hopewell Township will receive $195,750 to cover construction and engineering costs to make improvements to the township’s sewage treatment plant.
Liberty Township will receive $107,000 to cover construction costs to demolish the Stonerstown school building and add stone to create a parking area.
Londonderry Township will receive $143,148 to purchase a backhoe.
Napier Township will receive $560,237 to purchase two 2025 MV607s, a 2024 Ford F600, and the outfitting of each truck.
Saxton Borough Municipal Authority will receive $762,500 to cover demolition, mobilization/demobilization, equipment purchases, installation/building modification, engineering and administrative costs to complete upgrades that their facility.
Snake Spring Township Municipal Authority will receive $67,530 to purchase a cargo van.
Southampton Township will receive $78,400 for the construction of a pole building.
West Providence Township Municipal Authority will receive $253,000 to cover construction and engineering costs to realign the Scalia sewer trunk link.
Woodbury Borough will receive $86,556 to purchase a utility truck.
Additionally, Bedford Borough will receive $250,000 from the Greenways, Trails and Recreation program for Phase I of the Green Project, a walking trail development initiative.
The Statewide LSA program distributes gaming revenue to economic development projects and the GTRP is funded through the Marcellus Shale Fund, which was created by Act 13 of 2012. Funding from both programs are distributed by the Commonwealth Financing Authority, an independent agency of the Pennsylvania Department of Community and Economic Development which administers the commonwealth’s economic stimulus packages.
