HARRISBURG — Sen. Pat Stefano (R-32) announced today projects in Fayette County were awarded more than $1.9 million in Statewide Local Share Account (LSA) funds from the Commonwealth Financing Authority (CFA).
The Pennsylvania Gaming Act allocates proceeds from online gaming revenue to support projects in the public interest across the commonwealth.
“This funding was meant to be directly invested in Fayette County communities,” Stefano said. “Between improving our roads, upgrading wastewater systems, strengthening emergency response or making parks more accessible, these projects will have a profound impact on our neighbor’s everyday lives. I’m proud to help bring these resources home to support the municipalities and local leaders working to make Fayette County an even better place to live, work, visit and raise a family.”
The following projects received funding through this program:
- Fayette County: $64,500 to purchase a multifunctional emergency management truck for hazardous materials response, technical rescue and other emergency operations throughout the county.
- Belle Vernon Borough: $250,000 to purchase a street sweeper and dump truck to support street cleaning, snow removal, park maintenance and sewer infrastructure upkeep.
- Brownsville Borough: $150,000 to mill and repave seven streets, improving road safety and accessibility.
- Bullskin Township (Pleasant Valley Water Authority): $119,230 to purchase a telehandler for water system maintenance, waterline installation and other construction work.
- Dawson Borough: $80,175 to replace a collapsed storm pipe on Laughlin Street to restore drainage and eliminate roadway flooding.
- Dunbar Borough (Dunbar Borough Township Sanitary Authority): $78,196 to install wastewater flow meters and a bioxide system to improve monitoring, odor control and sewer infrastructure protection.
- Fairchance Borough: $125,293 to construct an ADA-compliant restroom and accessibility improvements at Fairchance Community Park.
- Fayette City Borough: $225,000 to upgrade wastewater treatment equipment, including grit removal, UV disinfection and aeration systems.
- Jefferson Township: $167,000 to purchase a wheel loader to improve the township’s ability to load maintenance vehicles and respond to incidents.
- Luzerne Township (Luzerne Township Sewer Authority): $73,512 to install Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition monitoring systems at three pump stations in the wastewater treatment plant for remote monitoring and faster emergency response.
- Ohiopyle Borough: $189,673 to rehabilitate Sheridan and Grant streets by installing sidewalks and ADA-compliant crosswalks to improve safety and accessibility.
- Perryopolis Borough (Perryopolis Area Joint Authority): $105,531 to replace three aging wastewater sludge pumps, to improve plant efficiency, capacity and reliability.
- Point Marion Borough: $43,877 to pave a community park walking trail and install ADA-compliant ramps for improved accessibility.
- Upper Tyrone Township: $139,235 to purchase a new municipal work vehicle equipped for street maintenance and snow removal.
- Vanderbilt Borough: $125,000 to replace Walnut Street sidewalks, install ADA-compliant curb ramps and improve crosswalks.
The CFA is an independent agency of the Pennsylvania Department of Community and Economic Development and administers the commonwealth’s economic stimulus packages.
