
HARRISBURG – Sen. Pat Stefano (R-32) announced today Fayette County roadway and sewer projects will benefit from more than $2.6 million in state grants. The funding was administered the Commonwealth Financing Authority.
“Strong infrastructure plays a critical role in our everyday lives, so these state investments will make an incredible impact for communities all across Fayette County,” Stefano said. “These grants will provide much-needed support to our municipalities so they can better serve residents, strengthen public safety and stimulate long-term economic growth. I’m grateful to work alongside local leaders to secure this funding and deliver lasting improvements to our county.”
The following approved projects were funded through the Multimodal Transportation Fund:
- Connellsville Township was awarded $82,077 for the West Blake Avenue drainage and resurfacing project.
- Heartland Fabrication, LLC was awarded $1,398,274 to improve three berthing areas at the Heartland Fabrication facility in Luzerne Township.
- Smithfield Borough was awarded $300,000 to replace sidewalks and crosswalks on Morgantown and Liberty Streets.
The following approved projects were funded through the PA Small Water and Sewer Program:
- Belle Vernon Borough was awarded $122,144 for its manhole and catch basin inspections and GIS mapping project.
- South Connellsville Municipal Authority was awarded $197,169 for its Riedmore Road sewer extension project.
- Franklin Township was awarded $487,050 for its Reservoir Road water line development project.
- Menallen Township Sewer Authority was awarded $67,100 for the Rock Works – WWTP reactor tanks improvement project.
The Multimodal Transportation Fund provides grants to encourage economic development and ensure that a safe and reliable system of transportation is available to the residents of the commonwealth.
The PA Small Water and Sewer Program provides grants to municipalities and municipal authorities for water, sewer, storm water and flood control projects.
Both programs are overseen by the Pennsylvania Department of Community and Economic Development.
The CFA was established in 2004 as an independent agency to administer Pennsylvania’s economic stimulus packages.
